MW / Kalaro

12:00:00 AM

I previously wrote about my friend Gershwin, who is an awesome songwriter. (He recently got married to the love of his life, Ava, and I was his best man! Haha! I'll write more about their wedding in another post.) He composed a song called Kalaro, which is the Filipino word for playmate. He was inspired to write this song one afternoon when he and Ava brought their eldest son Athan to school to reserve him a slot, and while they were there, he met a little girl named Ysabel.

Athan
Athan is a very playful young boy. He likes to pretend that everyone around him is a zombie, and he "shoots" at them with a hand gun (his hand fashioned as a gun). So his parents were positively surprised that he shared a tender, innocent moment with another kid, and a girl, at that. That afternoon's events resulted in an awesome I was lucky enough to get to sing. Below are the lyrics:

Naalala mo ba
Nang una tayong nagkakilala
Walang pangamba

During one of our jamming sessions, we recorded a rough demo of this song, which I uploaded on Soundcloud (click here if you'd like to hear it!). I literally had to learn this song less than an hour before we hit record, so yes, we need to record another version soon.
