FTF / #MindaNOWorNever: General Santos City

12:00:00 AM

From Mati, Davao Oriental, Hannah, Jules, and I drove to General Santos City. Jules wasn't supposed to join us, actually - the plan was that he will drive Hannah and I to Davao City, and from there, we were to take the bus to GenSan. But when he found out that we were going paragliding, he decided to join us!

We headed straight to the home of Tantan, one of our colleagues from Selecta. He had suffered a stroke about three weeks before our visit, so it was really good to see him back on his feet (and eager to work, too!). He brought us to a local place for - what else? - really good tuna, after which he found us a nice pension house to stay in for the evening.

Before 8am, we were out of the pension house and our way to SAFI Ranch for paragliding! Woohoo! It wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be. Just like the ultralight plane ride the day before, paragliding was one of the closer ways for human beings to approximate the experience of flying the way birds do.

Taking in the amazing view was divine. I'm not a religious person, but I am somewhat spiritual. And at that moment, all I can think of was how all that beauty could not have been a most fortunate accident; there must be a creative force behind everything - a force greater than the human mind could grasp.

That was all we came to General Santos City for, but it was most definitely worth the trip.
